Faherty to Open Store on Boston's Newbury Street Jean E. Palmieri Faherty will open its sixth store on Boston's Newbury Street in March. The 1,064-square-foot store will be the second in the state and follows a seasonal store that opened in Nantucket last spring. The Newbury Street store, in the city's Back Bay area, will be designed by Ryan Lawson and Ninie Norris who will furnish the unit to complement the history of the neighborhood. Abel Macias, a California-based mixed-media artist, is working with the designers to install a series of mobiles and applied art installations using natural and found objects from the sea as an homage to the city's coastal roots. The new location will also offer similar Faherty hallmarks including vintage surfboards, layered textiles and a selection of unexpected objects and art collected from around the world that are designed to create the feeling of a never-ending summer. "Boston embodies classic Americana, rooted in history with undeniable charm," said cofounder Alex Faherty, who created the brand with his twin brother Mike in 2013.
