As a result of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH for short) act of 2015, the IRS is required to hold all refunds for taxpayers claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit. If your federal return contains one or both of these credits the IRS held them until Feb 15th.
