Bloomingdale's Opening Baseman x Coach Shops Jean E. Palmieri Coach is popping up at Bloomingdale's. The New York-based department store will today open pop-up shops for the accessories brand's collaboration with Los Angeles artist Gary Baseman at its 59th Street flagship as well as three branch stores around the U.S. The initiative will include custom windows at the 59th Street store as well to promote the 45-piece Baseman x Coach collection, which is based on the artist's signature prints, characters and motifs. "We've worked with Gary Baseman previously, but this time we've taken American iconography — surfer, Hawaii and Western — to create imagery that disrupts those ideas, weaving a mischievous, unexpected thread through familiar, nostalgic references," said Stuart Vevers, Coach's executive creative director. "The collection overall is less wholesome but still remains true to all of Coach's values with a more extreme take." The windows are inspired by the brand's spring collection and include chrome, wood and neon street signs designed to complement the collaboration. Pieces will include the Gnarly Face T-shirt, which uses Baseman's trademark graphic vintage-inspired prints; the Wild Lily jacket, which is his interpretation of a classic Hawaiian floral print, and the Printed Officer's Jacket, which features Baseman's illustrations on white lambskin. The collection is being launched exclusively atFollow WWD on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook. Read More... | | Fashion 3 | | |
